Questions that require a little more than 2 or 3 line answers are usually posted as blog entries. However, here are some FAQ's we get. We'll continue to update this page as needed. There's links at the bottom to questions that where answered as blog posts.
If you have a question please feel to ask. You can email us by clicking HERE or fill out the "Contact Us" on the right. Come on, don't be shy. 😃
-Do you do ghost hunting tours at your home?
No. We are a true working ranch/farm with lots of animals and a lot things happening on nearly a daily basis. Doing this would require more work on our part. Also, we are careful who we allow here since this is our home.
-How much did you get paid to do the show?
Zero. We did not get paid anything.
-How much do you charge to visit your place?
We don't allow people to visit. This is our home and we don't want to be a tourist destination. A similar question we get related to this one is do we allow people to spend the night or camp on the property. The answer to that is also, no.
-Do you have paranormal teams investigate your place?
No. Ever since our first and only experience with a paranormal team we've decided it is not a wise move to have investigations. We have turned down many request. Even though some teams are wonderful, respectful, and professional, we just cannot take the risk.
-You're a fake and a fraud. You just want to make money.
This is really isn't a question but we felt we needed to answer it. We always anticipate getting these type of comments. It just comes with the territory. Never really bothers us. Some people are just narrow minded and think they know our whole story along with the circumstances surrounding it. They relay on the teaching or comments of others without giving us the courtesy of speaking to us directly; then spew off nasty and hateful comments about us. We always tell people to have an open mind, but some people have their minds locked up so tightly that the thought of something like this occurring is beyond them. We suffered for 8 long years and didn't really talk to anyone about this. We finally did something, it took a lot of courage to put ourselves out there. After our episode aired, we turned down other shows who wanted to pay us to be on theirs; we turned down selling the rights to our story for an amount which would have made us financially independent. We've turned down people who wanted to visit, as well as other Paranormal teams; both which were willing to pay us to come to our ranch. If we were trying to make money we certainly could have done so. We haven't profited from this at all. The negative comments from people are the type of things that keep those who are suffering quiet. They don't come forward because they don't want to be ridiculed, called liars and frauds, or just made fun of. They will withdrawn just like we did. That only makes the situation worse because whatever is haunting you now has complete control over you. Unless they get help, it will not end well and the damage it leaves behind will take years to recovery. Our hope continues to be that sharing our story gives someone the courage to come forward and get help. If sharing our story helps one family, it was worth. No one should suffer in silence out of fear of being judged. If you are one of those people who cast doubt upon others by posting or calling people frauds or liars, then you are huge part of the problem. It's better to just not say anything at all because you just show your immaturity and lack of compassion. Shame on you and I hope you never have to go through what we, and others, have gone through but then again, I hope you do because that may be the only thing that will open up your locked mind.
-During your episode, Jennifer said you breed dogs and have over 20! Isn't that a puppy mill?
We are absolutely not a puppy mill! We don't have any cages and our animals are free to roam our property. They are loved, spoiled, and socially active. We do not breed unnecessarily and most puppies are sold before they are born. We do not over breed our females. We are a licensed animal breeder by the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and inspected annually. We also have a veterinarian on call 24/7.
-What type of dogs do you breed?
Miniature Schnauzers. Teacup, Toys, and Minis
-How long did it take for them to film your episode?
I think the entire filming process took about 5-7 days.
-Have you been approached by other paranormal shows?
Yes, but we've declined
-Your ranch is named Mis Mas Tejas, what does that mean?
It's Spanish and loosely translated it means "Just like Texas."
-They say on the show you've lived in your home for 8 years, are you from the area originally?
No, we are actually from Texas. All of us were born in Texas and moving here was the first time we ever lived outside of Texas. Even though we don't live there anymore, we are still proud native Texans.
-What do you do for a living?
We are self employed and working this place is hard work.
-Steve interviewed your 3 beautiful daughters, do you have any other children who weren't on the show?
We actually have 6 children. We have 4 daughters together and Jennifer has 2 boys from a previous marriage. Our children range in ages from 30 to 11.
-How long have you two been married?
As of this answer, 25 years and counting.
-What was it like to work with Amy and Steve?
Amazing! As a matter of fact the entire crew at Painless Productions treated us with respect the whole time. We had a lot of fun with them. When they use the word "Client" they truly mean it.
-Do you still talk to Amy and Steve?
We keep in touch with Amy but haven't talked to Steve since filming.
-If you had to do it again, would you be on the Dead Files?
Yes, without hesitation.
-Do you talk to others that have been on the show?
Yes. We are friends with several of them.
-Your family has been very open about your experiences, why is that?
Our goal is to help others who are having similar experience but are afraid of coming forward. Our hope in sharing our story is that it will give them the strength and courage to get the help they need. No one should suffer in silence out of fear of being judged or ridiculed.
-Are some of your friends scared to come over to your house?
Yes, however, that is starting to change and we are having more people come over. There are still some that are too scared to come to our house.
-You talk about your dog, Maya, in a blog post. Is she still with you?
Yes, Maya is still here and still protecting us. She's a big part of our family. You can follow Maya on Twitter!
-Did you get to meet Matt when they filmed your episode?
Unfortunately no, we didn't get to meet him.
-The psychic from the paranormal group that was at your house seems very unprofessional. Do you plan on ever naming her in your blog?
At least at this time, no. We are choosing to take the high road. Besides, we don't need any of her negativity in our lives.
